Ride On

Wow I found this poem which I wrote 12 years ago - so thought I'd share it on here

"Ride on," we hear the battle cry,
Triumphant to the end!
Our Captain of salvation leads;
Our Saviour and our Friend

We are more than conquerors
Over all our foes.
The banner of our Saviour
We follow where e'er He goes.

Through trials and temptations,
Through water or through flame,
His band of mighty soldiers
Praise His glorious name.

Ride on ride on to victory -
The Celestial City is nigh.
Hosanna to the King of kings
Who reigns the earth from high

The Edge of Life

Walking on the edge of life
Feeling the beat of my heart
Wondering and asking
Asking why we're apart
Words that hurt me
Never will deter me
Walking on the edge of life

Standing on the edge of life
Aching so much in my soul
Without you
My life isn't whole
Feeling the fist on my face
I really can't leave this place
Standing on the edge of life

Sitting on the edge of life
Watching all the world go by
Looking for a reason,
A reason not to cry
Looking into cold eyes
Feeling all those bad lies
Sitting on the edge of life

Lying on the edge of life
My head hurt so much
I can hardly breathe;
I promised you
I would never leave.
But my heart bleeds
My soul longs to be free.
All I wanted was for you
To love me.
But now I'm
Lying on the edge of life
Wounded...
Hurting...
Dead to all pain
Nothing to gain
Just lying on the edge

My Easter 2014 poem

The One who wore the crown of thorns
Upon his blood stained brow.
Wore those thorns so that we
Could wear a crown of glory now.

The One who had nail pierced hands
And had agony in His soul
Bore those wounds so that we
In Spirit, could be made whole

The One who bore the darkest sky
Dark as the blackest night
Took our sins upon Himself
So we could live in light

The One who hung all alone
On that vile, accursed cross
Hung in love and tenderness
So we wouldn't suffer loss

The One who bowed His weary head
And gave up His soul that day
Lifts up the heads of everyone
Who will follow in His way

The One who lay dead in the tomb
Rose up in victory
So that those who come and follow Him
Live for eternity!
