Santa meets the Health and Safety Executive (or Elf and Safety)

Up on the rooftop reindeer pause
Out jumps good ole Santa Claus
He has some post from H S E
Delivering presents will be messy

No no no he can't go
No no no he can't go
Up on the rooftops
Click click click
No more chimneys
For good Saint Nick

Dear Santa, no more heights
You might fall and get a fright
No heavy lifting, no more fires
No more skis only Goodyear Tyres

No no no he can't go
No no no he can't go
Up on the rooftops
Click click click
No more chimneys
For good Saint Nick

No more flyin' at dead of night
Unless your sleigh is full of lights.
You can't stereo type the toys
Guns for girls, and dolls for boys

No no no he can't go
No no no he can't go
Up on the rooftops
Click click click
No more chimneys
For good Saint Nick

Don't drink sherry left as a surprise
Or else the police will breathalyse
No mince pies for you to eat
Or you will be classed as obese

No no no he can't go
No no no he can't go
Up on the rooftops
Click click click
No more chimneys
For good Saint Nick

Imagine there's no...

Imagine there's no lemons
No limes or grapefruit too.
No meringue pie nor mojito
What would people do?
Imagine in the fruit bowl
There's no citrus zing

Imagine there's no olives
No zucchini too
What would be put in our casserole
Or our hearty stew?
Imagine  there's no veggies
We'd get no 5-a-day.

You may not buy a steamer
Cos there's no veggie in sight
We all need that goodness
And you know I'm always right

Imagine there's no chocolate
No cocoa beans at all
And when you've got PMT
You could punch a wall
Imagine there's no chocolate
There'd be no sane guys left

You may say I'm a screamer
And the world's a frightening place
Just give me some chocolate
Or I'll punch you in the face

Little Woman

I saw a little woman
Walking down the street
She was dressed all in black
From her head to her feet
Little woman where ya going?
Little woman whatcha doin?
Little woman with the sad eyes
Little woman with the surprise

I saw a little woman
Walking in the lane
She was looking like the evil
High on cocaine
Little woman where ya goin?
Little woman whatcha doin?
Little woman with the blank eyes
Little woman with the surprise

I saw a little woman
Standing on a corner
She was catching all the men’s eyes
You could tell they really wan’ her
Little woman where ya goin?
Little woman whatcha doin?
Little woman with the big eyes
Little woman with the surprise

Can ya see little women
Life is just passing
Don’t ya know little women
Life ain’t laughing

Little women where ya goin’?
Little women whatcha doin?
Little women life’s your eyes
Are ya gonna have a surprise?

Are ya gonna waste ya small life?

A strange poem I wrote one day...

Memory - for Dogs

Midnight
I have just found a lamp post
I feel like I should use it
I am smiling alone.
In the lamplight
I manage to get some relief
Now it's time to
Get on home...
Walkies
I want to go walkies
It's a mile to the old woods
Where there's lots of trees.
I remember the time I went
When there was snow
It turned yellow - I said
Oh NO!
Every street lamp seems to be
A place to go to potty
I can't stop it
E'en if you say
'Hop it'
I cannot wait til morning.
Daylight
I can't wait for the sunrise
I must use this lamp post
I can't hold it in.

Haven't got the time to finish it off - but I think you get the gist...

The Edge of Life

Walking on the edge of life
Feeling the beat of my heart
Wondering and asking
Asking why we're apart
Words that hurt me
Never will deter me
Walking on the edge of life

Standing on the edge of life
Aching so much in my soul
Without you
My life isn't whole
Feeling the fist on my face
I really can't leave this place
Standing on the edge of life

Sitting on the edge of life
Watching all the world go by
Looking for a reason,
A reason not to cry
Looking into cold eyes
Feeling all those bad lies
Sitting on the edge of life

Lying on the edge of life
My head hurt so much
I can hardly breathe;
I promised you
I would never leave.
But my heart bleeds
My soul longs to be free.
All I wanted was for you
To love me.
But now I'm
Lying on the edge of life
Wounded...
Hurting...
Dead to all pain
Nothing to gain
Just lying on the edge

Intangible Hope

Diving into the ocean of dreams
I see the dolphins swim
I hear the sound of humpback whales
The dawn chorus sing

Riding on the wind of fantasy
I see the birds soar
I hear the sound of the nightingale
The wild oceans roar

Climbing the peaks of mirage,
The wind upon my face
The swirl of energy round my being
The deer lose a race

Stormy Sea

The sea, at night,
Angry like a drunken man
Looking for a fight -
Egged on by the wind;
Foaming and churning,
Lashing and burning.
Desiring
No peace,
No tranquility,
No order.
Whipped up into
A frenzy of hatred -
Wanting to destroy
Everything in its path.
Nothing is safe!
Not even the huge rocks
Which stand upright and proud
Like mountains to a tiny child.
The majestic cliffs
Standing watch over -
A beacon of protection
Could fall
Under the force of
Such rage!
Rising up as a cobra,
Waiting a second
Until the strike -
Smashing upon the beach,
Crashing upon the shore.
A wild beast in a cage
Longing to break free
To devour everything
In its path.
Uncontrolled malice
Unending terror
Under the moonlit sky.

Morning calm,
Still, sober.
Water glistening in the sunlight.
This morning a lamb,
Sleepy in the glow
Of the celestial ball.
A frightened creature
Timidly lapping the shore,
Gently brushing
Tenderly touching.
Anger melted
Into sobriety
And tranquil paradise.
