Broken (Good Friday), Whole (Resurrection Sunday) Easter poem for 2015

[Good Friday]

Broken men,
With a broken plan,
Plot to destroy
The Son of Man.

Broken disciple
With a broken heart,
Takes some silver;
Tears himself apart.

Broken watch
With a broken sleep.
Jesus prays,
And with blood, He weeps.

Broken Saviour,
Broken friends have fled.
All alone,
Facing the ultimate dread.

Broken court,
With the broken trial.
Made up case
Lots of lies, so vile!

Broken soldiers
With a broken game;
Gambling for clothes,
Blaspheming His Name!

Broken thief
With a broken life.
His conscience pricked
With the Spirit's knife.

Broken serpent,
Broken on that tree!
Death swallowed up
In Jesus' victory!

Broken veil,
In that soon broken place!
Now ALL who come through Jesus
Will see God, face to face!

Broken creation,
Broken as He died.
"My God, why am I forsaken?"
The Saviour's final cry!

Broken Redeemer,
Body broken for me
As He takes God's wrath,
At Calvary

Broken women
And broken men
Thought they would never
See Him again

Broken Light,
Broken Son,
Broken day,
The final work was done

[Resurrection Sunday]

Broken morning
At a broken tomb!
The grave, for the Saviour,
Didn't have any room!

"He is risen! He is risen!"
The angel cries!
No more death, no more broken!
Come! Wipe your eyes!

Salvation is here,
Jesus no more bleeds!
In the heavens, for His people,
He now intercedes.

For the sinful, for the wicked
Jesus bled and died!
No sin too great and vast
For Jesus' sacrifice!

Come, come and gather
At the foot of the cross.
There is so much to gain,
That will outweigh the loss:

Heaven's gates are open,
To welcome in the Bride,
Because of the one condemned -
The Lord, crucified.

The Redeemer sits in glory,
Sceptre in His hand,
Death and sin are broken!
Redemption through the lands!

The crown of thorns is broken
Crown of glory on His head
Life for those who believe on him!
Hope, and no more dread!
